The East Kaweah GSA Draft Mitigation Plan public comment period is underway. The East Kaweah GSA invites all stakeholders and well users to review and comment on the plan by August 7. Technical experts will revise the Plan based on public comments received.

To educate stakeholders, the East Kaweah GSA has created a video featuring a discussion among technical experts about the Draft Plan to inform stakeholders on what is in the Plan, and how it impacts them.

The Draft Mitigation Plan is part of a greater coordination effort called the Draft Mitigation Framework, which also ends its public comment period on August 7. The Framework was drafted for the Kaweah Subbasin, which includes the Mid-Kaweah, Greater Kaweah, and East Kaweah GSAs. Stakeholders can read the Draft Framework here.

The Mitigation Framework and Plan include the plan and process for responding to impacts caused by groundwater overdraft, including to wells and critical infrastructure. The East Kaweah GSA continues to develop and implement tailored outreach strategies to engage with stakeholders, including Disadvantaged Communities. Stakeholder engagement is crucial to meet groundwater sustainability goals within the East Kaweah GSA boundary.
