The Kaweah Subbasin GSAs — East Kaweah, Mid-Kaweah, and Greater Kaweah — have released a first-of-its-kind Groundwater Quality Report. The report provides results for groundwater quality monitoring for Spring 2025.

The report is part of a new seasonal reporting effort in compliance with the Subbasin’s 2024 Amended Groundwater Sustainability Plan (GSP). The new monitoring requirements in the Kaweah Subbasin are a response to deficiencies in previous GSP drafts. The report was created by collecting water quality data at 71 Representative Monitoring Sites, measuring an expanded list of contaminants that pose potential health risks. It is intended to inform groundwater users of groundwater quality conditions in the Kaweah Subbasin.

Results at Representative Monitoring Site wells are analyzed to determine whether groundwater quality degradation is occurring within the Subbasin. The GSA uses this information to take corrective action to comply with the Sustainable Groundwater Management Act (SGMA).

If you have questions about the report or would like your water sampled, please contact East Kaweah GSA by phone at (559) 695-6095 or by email at groundwater@ekgsa.org. You can also visit East Kaweah GSA’s GSP webpage to view more information on the Kaweah Subbasin’s groundwater quality monitoring. This can be found in Chapter 4, Section 4.1 and Section 4.6 of the GSP. The next report is expected in April 2026.
