Last week, the Kaweah Subbasin Groundwater Sustainability Agencies (GSAs) held the State of the Subbasin event. The event was held in person at the International Agri-Center on Wednesday, June 19th, and as a webinar on Thursday, June 20th. Many stakeholders across the Kaweah Subbasin attended the State of the Subbasin, with just shy of 250 total attendees between the two events.

Kaweah Subbasin stakeholders were invited to attend the event to hear directly from their GSA general manager and receive the latest updates on the Kaweah Subbasin’s progress on the Sustainable Groundwater Management Act (SGMA) and ongoing efforts to continue managing groundwater under local leadership.

Attendees of the event received valuable information, including:

  • Updates on SGMA
  • What the State Board probationary process means, and how it affects you
  • The status of the revised Kaweah Subbasin Groundwater Sustainability Plans
  • What local projects and new programs are moving forward to reach groundwater sustainability
  • How you can support efforts to keep local control over groundwater management

If you missed the event and want to see the information covered, visit the State of the Subbasin webpage to find everything shared, including:

  • The event presentation slides,
  • English and Spanish recordings,
  • An education handout recapping the Kaweah Subbasin’s sustainability efforts,
  • Kaweah Subbasin GSA contact information,
  • And more!

The State of the Subbasin event was hosted by the three Kaweah Subbasin GSAs: Greater Kaweah GSA, Mid-Kaweah GSA, and East Kaweah GSA.
