On the tails of the State Water Resources Control Board (State Board) hearing cancelation, the East Kaweah GSA is charging into 2025 with local groundwater management top of mind. GSP implementation has been ongoing since 2020 but the latest GSP iteration includes new management actions, like the mitigation program. Other management actions include the small community proactive and protective action plan, and the development of a voluntary well registration program.
The GSA has engaged agricultural, technical, rural, and domestic well-reliant stakeholders through multiple workshops and partnerships with Non-Government Organizations on the development of these new actions.
More information for our stakeholders will become available in the coming months for those management actions involving their participation and action.
East Kaweah GSA will continue to adapt its sustainability measures to accommodate the changing water conditions and reach groundwater sustainability by 2040.
