New Funding Opportunities for Kaweah Landowners to Repurpose Land
Notices
April 1, 2025

Landowners in the Kaweah Subbasin can now apply for funding through the Multibenefit Land Repurposing Program (MLRP), a program funded by the California Department of Conservation and administered by the Kaweah Delta Water Conservation District. The program gives local landowners the opportunity to repurpose agricultural land to reduce regional demand for groundwater while benefiting communities and wildlife.

Eligible projects can receive up to $200,000 per project for planning and permitting. Eligible projects may focus on the sustainable management of groundwater supplies, providing drought relief, restoring wildlife habitat, and providing other direct benefits to disadvantaged communities (DACs) and socially disadvantaged farmers and ranchers (SDFRs).

Participating landowners have the opportunity to secure funding for projects that support long-term water sustainability while also protecting the Kaweah Subbasin’s land-based economy. By leveraging these grant dollars, landowners can repurpose land in ways that directly benefit them and their communities.

The application period is open now through August 31, 2025. Visit kaweahmlrp.org to download the Request for Projects (RFP), request technical assistance, and register for upcoming workshops.
