Allocation Year 2023 billing period updates
Allocations
November 6, 2023

The East Kaweah GSA staff is currently preparing the Allocation Year 2023 End of Year Summary and invoices for landowners. Allocation Year 2023 aligns with the Water Year 2023 period, which began October 1, 2022, and ended September 30, 2023.

East Kaweah GSA staff are aiming to have the End of Year Summary available on the Water Dashboard in December 2023. Information from these summaries will be used to generate invoices in January 2024.

East Kaweah GSA encourages landowners to watch the collection of Water Dashboard tutorial videos to understand how to digitally view their End of Year Summary, change allocation years, manage groundwater transfers and surface water accounting, and rearrange their order of water use.

Stakeholders can visit ekgsa.org/allocation for resources on allocations. East Kaweah GSA encourages visiting the site often, as new information will be posted as it becomes available.

What is the Water Dashboard?

The Water Dashboard is a tool shared among the Kaweah Subbasin Groundwater Sustainability Agencies. It empowers landowners to strategically respond to the Sustainable Groundwater Management Act (SGMA) by delivering key water use insights at the farm level.

The Water Dashboard provides growers with a way to meaningfully view their evapotranspiration (Eta) data from Land IQ. Land IQ uses a data driven model that measures ETa from approximately 90 Land IQ field monitoring stations and satellite imagery. The Water Dashboard uses ETa reporting to assign water use to each parcel to generate bills for groundwater allocation billing in the East Kaweah GSA. Groundwater allocations were set in place to correct groundwater overdraft in the Kaweah Subbasin and are a part of working toward groundwater sustainability under SGMA.
